Samodiva

In Bulgarian folklore, a Samodiva is a mythical forest nymph - a wild female spirit tied to nature, beauty, and freedom. Samodivi are often depicted as radiant young women dressed in white, moving with supernatural grace, and appearing near forests, rivers, and mountain meadows. They are protectors of nature and symbols of mystery and independence, embodying both the gentleness and danger of the natural world. Inspired by this legend, I created a series portraying a Samodiva in a river. Through light, movement, and water, the project explores the dual nature of the Samodiva: captivating yet powerful, gentle yet unpredictable.
